Supported Parenting

For mothers and fathers with learning difficulties

A gateway to the work of the Parents with Learning Difficulties Research Programme at the University of Sheffield

Supported parenting is a principled approach to helping families led by a parent or parents with learning difficulties. It is about developing new forms of support that are responsive to parents' perceptions of their own needs, and working long-term to build on a family's strengths in order to promote competence and sustain independence.
